With this issue, we present our 3rd Annual Retailers’ Choice Awards, giving our readers the opportunity to weigh in on the products they have to sell every day. We expanded our selections this year to address two new categories—Most Anticipated Camera and Best New Concept Camera. The votes are in, and we were pleased to see the excitement around some products that are on the way.
Part of our mission at Digital Imaging Reporter is to be the voice of the retailer, and we appreciate the many retailers that responded to our request to participate in our online survey. We’re going to continue to ask questions of our readers, and if you ever have any suggestions as to what might interest you, please let us know.
May is always an exciting time in our industry, as we move into the Moms, Dads and Grads gift-giving season. To this end, we present our Great Gadgets for Grads and Dads article, as well as our review of mirrorless interchangeable-lens cameras and the trends in 360º and VR consumer cameras. We will continue to put new technologies into perspective for the imaging market, so that our readers can embrace the trends that are dominating the category.
Finally, we welcome our youngest Last Word contributor to date, Jon Cappetta—a brand strategist who addresses the opportunities of streaming “live” content to gain traction for your brand. (Imagine broadcasting a photo tour live to your Facebook page?) We all have to embrace the fact that media is being consumed in vastly different ways than even a few years ago—and keeping current can go a long way in driving business.
