I remember the days in the 1990s when Canon and Nikon would recruit professional photographers like free agents in baseball; they were always trying to land the bigger fish. Now, with so many endorsement deals, there are plenty of opportunities to go around. We hope you enjoy Jon Sienkiewicz’s extensive discussions with industry marketing leaders to understand the strategies behind their ambassador programs.

Unfortunately, we lost two giants in our industry over the last two months. Paul Comon, the founder of Paul’s Photo, was a true legend and a true gentleman in our industry. I had the pleasure of meeting him a number of times, as I’m sure many of you have. He garnered nothing but respect. His son Mark is proudly carrying on his legacy as a leader in our industry.

Moreover, Bob McKay, a columnist for Digital Imaging Reporter, was well known for his caustic wit and as a purveyor of many strategies in Asia during his long career. Bob was always fun to be around. In addition, he always had the right contacts to get the story behind the story.

Both Paul and Bob will be missed. We send our condolences to their families.

And as we move into the dads and grads gifting season, we also suggest some winning products that will bring smiles to your customers’ faces. Check out some of favorites.

We hope you enjoy this issue of Digital Imaging Reporter, and we thank our advertisers for their continued support.
