Madrid, Spain—The 2023 TIPA World Awards presentations took place September 22nd on the Photopia stage during the four-day imaging festival in Hamburg, Germany. The ceremony was the culmination of a yearlong effort of research, testing and comparative judgments of photo-imaging products by TIPA members.
Hosted by Thomas Gerwers, TIPA’s chairman, the event was attended by company representatives of the 40 winning awards. Moreover, it was available via a livestream feed. A video of the event is now offered here.
Gerwers began with an introduction of the TIPA members’ role in promoting photo-imaging products in print and Internet publications globally. In addition, he noted that each year the awards are in line with new trends and technologies. He also touched on TIPA’s recent joining of the industry-wide CAI (Content Authenticity Initiative). The CAI addresses the critical issue of AI (artificial intelligence) in the photo and video creative space.
In addition, Gerwers announced the TIPA call for entry to all photographers to submit images to the TIPA Picture This: Camera Shots contest. 
TIPA & Hamburg Messe
Following Gerwers’s remarks was the welcoming speech from Bernd Aufderheide, CEO of Hamburg Messe and Congress. He welcomed attendees and spoke about the growth of Photopia and how it has evolved into a central platform for both the European and worldwide photo-imaging industry.
Moreover, Aufderheide noted that Photopia 2023 marked the third year of the exclusive partnership between TIPA and the Hamburg Messe and Congress for hosting the TIPA World Awards presentation. He also expressed how he was particularly pleased that the celebration of imaging in the Hamburg Messe exhibition campus and throughout the city of Hamburg received a TIPA World Award—Best Photo Event.
The awards presentation included comments from team leaders, CEOs and company representatives. Finally, it culminated in a group photo of all the winning company representatives in attendance.
2023 TIPA World Awards
The TIPA awards cover cameras and lenses in every category, from entry level to expert and professional. Further, award winners represent the wide range of products and services that make up today’s imaging industry.
