Woodbury, NY—The Imaging Alliance announced the winners of their Visionary Photographer Award for 2017: Drew Geraci, James L. Niehouse, Corey Rich and Benjamin Von Wong. They will be honored at Celebrate Imaging on the eve of CES 2017, January 4, 2017, in Las Vegas.
“As our first awards representing the Imaging Alliance, we wanted to turn our attention to showcasing the new possibilities of imaging,” said Jerry Grossman, the organization’s executive director. “Whereas in years past we’ve focused on corporate achievements, we’ve decided as an organization to have our awards reflect our new vision of ’defining the future of visual communication.’ Additionally, the bounds of these four amazing photographers are endless.”
Drew Geraci is a passionate and award-winning photographer/videographer who specializes in motion time-lapse photography, video production as well as aerial videography. An owner of District7 Media, his credits include the opening sequence to Netflix’s House of Cards. They also include as works for Apple, Discovery Channel, Red Bull Media, NFL Films, X Games, Corona Extra “Luna Corona” promos, PBS’s Frontline, HBO Documentaries and other commercial productions.
James Niehouse has worked on more than 30 IMAX films as well as other large-format productions. His first credit as director of photography was on the film The Eruption of Mount St. Helens. It which was the first IMAX to be nominated for the Academy Award. He has also contributed to some of the most successful films in the format. These are The Dream Is Alive, Space Station 3D, Hubble 3D and Ocean Oasis. His most recent project, A Beautiful Planet, was released this April. It was the first IMAX production to be produced with all digital cameras.
Corey Rich’s imaginative still and motion work over the last two decades proves that it’s not only possible to achieve Hollywood-grade results with a “small-footprint production” model but that it often produces better, more authentic visual stories. In addition, his work launching Nikon’s KeyMission 360 VR, 4K action camera illustrates his passion for bringing classic storytelling creativity to the latest technology.
Benjamin Von Wong, a Sony Artisan of Imagery motivated by the desire to be creatively challenged and also overcome impossibilities, has become notorious for his epic photography. Furthermore, his hyperrealistic art style captures viewers in a fusion of special effects and innovative concepts. Additionally, his background in engineering gives him a unique edge for creative problem solving, where technical challenges become friendly competition.
Visionary Award Presented at Celebrate Imaging Event
