According to a new study from InfoTrends, more consumers are opting to print their camera phone photos at retail. In fact, the percentage of consumers that reported printing camera phone photos at retail over the counter nearly doubled between 2007 and 2008 (although this number is still relatively small). Photo kiosk print stations also increased in popularity, realizing almost the same level of growth.

According to David Haueter, an Associate Director at InfoTrends, “As more retailers are adding photo printing capabilities to their stores and awareness about these capabilities has increased, InfoTrends expects continued growth in the printing of camera phone photos at retail locations. Retailers can capitalize even more on this growth by marketing their digital photo printing capabilities, particularly in relation to printing directly from camera phones.”

InfoTrends’ new report, Photo Printing among Camera Phone Users: 2008 Survey Results, offers data related to the digital photo printing habits of camera phone users. It assesses overall printing behaviors, the quantity and frequency of printing camera phone photos, and future printing intentions. This report covers factors that are motivating and preventing consumers from printing their camera phone photos and also discusses the methods by which consumers are obtaining those prints.

The complete study provides a detailed analysis of digital photography behaviors of camera phone users, including demographics, the most commonly used camera phone features, picture and video usage habits, and the impact that the camera phone has on dedicated digital camera usage.
