According to The NPD Group’s The Next Camera Study, only about 70 percent of detachable-lens camera owners believe there is room to improve their current primary camera.
Of those digital SLR owners who feel there is room for improvement, the top three areas were: higher zoom capability (25 percent); lighter weight (24 percent); and ability to take photos more quickly (23 percent).
About 75 percent of compact point-and-shoot camera owners feel their camera experiences could be improved. The top three things they see as key to improving their camera experience are: the ability to take photos more quickly (35 percent); higher zoom capability (32 percent); and higher megapixel/resolution (27 percent).—Liz Cutting, director and senior imaging analyst, The NPD Group
