Pulaski, NY—Submissions for the 2021 Felix Schoeller Photo Awards open on January 1. The award will focus on two categories: the German Peace Prize for Photography as well as the Best Work by an Emerging Photographer award. The deadline for submissions is May 31, 2021.
2021 Felix Schoeller Photo Awards
German Peace Prize for Photography
The Felix Schoeller Group will continue to underline its commitment to peace in the coming year. “Peace is more important than ever, even in today’s times, which are strongly influenced by the Corona pandemic. Moreover, we see it as our duty to continue supporting this quest for peace,” said Hans-Christoph Gallenkamp, CEO of the Felix Schoeller Group.
Dr. Friederike Texter, who is responsible for communication on the Felix Schoeller Photo Award, explained: “The prize is awarded to works that use the medium of photography to address the topic of ‘peace’ conceptually. The concept of peace is defined very broadly. It can be peace between peoples; peaceful coexistence in a country or family; or even inner peace.”
Emerging Photographer Award
Since the Felix Schoeller Photo Award was launched in 2013, it has focused on promoting young photographers. “Young talent remains close to our hearts. As the German Peace Prize for Photography is not open to young photographers, the category Best Work by an Emerging Photographer is announced for 2021,” added Texter.
This category’s winner will garner the Felix Schoeller Emerging Photographer Award 2021 with an endowed prize of $3,000. Moreover, all nominees in this category will receive an exclusive online session with a jury member to discuss their work (portfolio presentation).
In addition, fine art paper manufacturer Capture X supports the 2021 Emerging Photographer Award. Capture X offers professionals as well as amateur photographers the opportunity for an intensive exchange with experts and within the community.
Exhibition of Winners & Nominees
Works of the winners as well as the nominees in both categories will exhibit to the public beginning October 3, 2021. What’s more, the exhibition will locate at the Museumsquartier Osnabrück. All work on displays will be printed on Capture X brand paper.
