2023 World Press Photo Contest Entries Open 12-1-2022

New York, NY—The 2023 World Press Photo Contest opens on Thursday, December 1, 2022. It will close on January 10, 2023. Entering the 2023 World Press Photo Contest is free and open to all professional photojournalists and/or documentary photographers.

Moreover, the World Press Photo Contest recognizes and celebrates the best photojournalism and documentary photography produced over the past year. Also this year, the regional contest model, that was launched for the 2022 contest, will continue.

“The result of the first year of this new strategy gave a much more geographically balanced view of the world. With more nuanced perspectives and a better shared understanding. This model offers both regional and global awards,” the organization announced.

2023 World Press Photo Contest

The regional contest is judged independently by leaders in documentary photography and photojournalism from each region. The World Press Photo Foundation will announce the regional and global jury in December 2022. More information on the judging process is found here.

In addition, the foundation will include the work of the winners in the World Press Photo annual traveling exhibition. They will also publish on the World Press Photo website and social platforms, with more than two million followers. Furthermore, they will appear in the World Press Photo yearbook.

The winners also garner approximately $5,000 for the global winners, in addition to $1,000 for the  regional winners. They will also receive an invitation to a winners’ event as well as a physical award.
