Los Angeles, CA—The Lucie Foundation issued an open call for the 2024 Lucie Scholarship program. The foundation supports professional and emerging talent who challenge and progress the art form of still photography into work that compel with this program.
“Our support of photography is broad, from fine art to documentary and photojournalism, to digital and film-based works,” the Lucie Foundation announced. “Our concern is to support photographers producing work that is at once gripping and original.”
Furthermore, the foundation is offering four cash grants and a variety of prizes to support the work of emerging and established photographers.
2024 Lucie Scholarship Program
The Lucie Scholarships are open to professional and emerging photographers 18 years and older, worldwide. “Professional” is defined as any photographer who earns the majority of their income from photography. “Emerging” is any photographer enrolled as a student; in the first five years of a photography career; or who does not earn the majority of income from photography. Moreover, the Lucie Foundation will showcase all winners and finalists of the 2024 scholarship program in a group exhibition in Los Angeles. The exhibition will locate at the Los Angeles Center of Photography in November 2024. 
The deadline for submission to the scholarship program is September 1, 2024, at 12:00 midnight ET. In addition, the foundation is offering early bird discounts of 20% until April 15, 2024.
2024 Lucie Scholarship Categories
Both this year’s Fine Art and Photojournalism/Documentary categories include professional as well as emerging entry points.
Fine Art: Professional
The winner of this category will receive a $3,000 cash prize. The winner will also garner an Ilford Portfolio bag and a box of Smooth Pearl 13×19-inch and Smooth Gloss 13×19-inch paper. Also part of the prize package is a Picto NYC $500 voucher for services.
Fine Art: Emerging
Prizes for this winner include $1,000 in cash; an Ilford Portfolio bag; a box of Smooth Pearl and Smooth Gloss 13×19-inch papers; as well as a Picto NYC $500 voucher for services. 
Photojournalism/Documentary: Professional
As in the Fine Art category, the winner of this category receives a $3,000 cash prize. The winner will also garner an Ilford Portfolio bag and a box of both Smooth Pearl 13×19-inch and Smooth Gloss 13×19-inch paper. The prize package additionally includes a Picto NYC $500 voucher for services.
Photojournalism/Documentary: Emerging
Here the winner will receive a $1,000 cash prize along with a Sony Alpha 7 IV camera with a SEL24-70GM2 lens. Again, this winner will garner an Ilford Portfolio bag and box of both Smooth Pearl and Smooth Gloss 13×19-inch paper plus a Picto NYC $500 voucher for services.
