Thornwood, NY—The 5th Zeiss Photography Award competition is now open. Zeiss is inviting photographers from all over the world to submit entries by February 4, 2020, reflecting the topic Seeing Beyond – Discoveries.
In conjunction with the World Photography Organization, Zeiss is calling on photographers to submit a photo series comprising five to 10 images at zeiss.com/photographyaward. Last year, around 8,350 photographers from 150 countries submitted almost 58,000 photos.
Moreover, photographers should interpret the topic, Seeing Beyond – Discoveries, in the broadest sense, as making new discoveries is human nature. It can be a personal revelation, a scientific and technical breakthrough or an idea leading to social transformation. What matters is that the photo series tells a strong, distinctive story. In addition, all genres of photography are welcome.
5th Zeiss Photography Award Jury
Furthermore, entries will be judged by a jury composed of three leading photography experts. The submissions will be judged on their quality as well as creativity. The judges will award prizes that include Zeiss lenses valued at more than $13,000 as well as a photo excursion.
In addition, Zeiss will announce a shortlist of 15 of the best entries alongside the winning series on March 31, 2020. The winner will receive Zeiss camera lenses of their choosing up to cash limit and also $3,300 to put toward a photo trip.
The award ceremony will take place on April 16, 2020, as part of the Sony World Photography Awards in London. The winning photos as well as selected shortlisted submissions will exhibit at Somerset House in London from April 17 to May 4, 2020.
Zeiss will also invite the winner to visit its company headquarters in Germany for a peek behind the scenes. In addition, the winner can test out Zeiss lenses and have the chance to work with Zeiss and the World Photography Organization.
