Union, NJ—Among the most prestigious professional photographic awards, Hasselblad Masters 2021 opened its voting for the public jury as well as the Hasselblad grand jury.
This year’s Hasselblad Masters competition is larger than previous years. In addition, it has expanded to 12 categories, including the newest one, Heritage. This category commemorates Hasselblad’s 80-year anniversary. Moreover, the 2021 competition received a record-breaking number of more than 63,000 images. That is double the amount of uploaded images compared to 2018.
Following the closure of the submission period on July 31, 2021, the top entries were narrowed down by the Hasselblad internal jury. This group is comprised of Hasselblad employees who are experts in the field of photography and cameras. Through an internal voting system, this jury selected the 120 Hasselblad Masters finalists; they represent the top 10 photographers in each of the categories.
The competition has turned to the next set of votes needed to select the 12 winners of the Hasselblad Masters 2021. The public can now cast their votes for their favorite entries from the 10 finalists in each category.
Simultaneously, the Hasselblad grand jury will select their top choices from each category. The grand jury is made up of 24 members of the industry’s most respected photographers, established editors and industry experts, in addition to previous winners of the Hasselblad Masters competition.
What’s more, adding to the 24 grand jury members, the Hasselblad public jury’s final votes are considered the 25th grand jury seat for the selection of the 2021 Hasselblad Masters.
