Huntington Beach, CA—Kenko Tokina Co., Ltd., announced that the Tokina International Filter Photo Contest 2023 has started accepting applications. The international competition will reward those photographers whose works enhance the creative as well as unbound possibilities of photographic filters.

Tokina International Filter Photo Contest 2023
The contest is sponsored by Kenko Tokina Co., Ltd., and is open to photos that are taken with the aid of a filter with the purpose of expanding creative possibilities.
This year’s theme is photos that make effective use of filters. Entrants may use filters from any manufacturer. However, filters such as protectors whose effects are not seen in the photograph are not permitted. In addition, photos that were heavily edited using retouching software (color swap, etc.) are not eligible for the contest.
The competition is open to anyone regardless of age, gender or nationality. Entries are restricted to unreleased and unpublished original photos for which the copyright is entirely owned by the applicant. 
Moreover, photos that have won prizes or are entered in other competitions are not eligible. However, photos that were entered in another competition but were not awarded a prize are eligible. In addition, photos that were published in noncommercial publications—such as club exhibitions for which the photography was not remunerated—or websites operated by individuals are eligible. Further, applicants under the age of 18 must obtain approval of their parent or guardian before applying.
Tokina also notes that it will disqualify entries if they deem that the subject matter is in breach of the law, public order and morals, or the purpose of this contest.
Prizes
Tokina will announce the winners of the International Filter Photo Contest 2023 on FILTER ZONE in January 2024. The prizes include:
- Grand Prix (one): approximately $3,500, a certificate and a photo panel of the work
- Jury Special Prizes (5): $700, a certificate and a photo panel of the work
- Kenko Tokina Special Prize (1): $350, a certificate and a photo panel of the work
- Excellent Works: (30): a certificate and a photo panel of the work
