Ricoh GR II Silver Edition

Denver, CO—Ricoh Imaging Americas Corporation unveiled the Ricoh GR II silver edition to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the founding of Ricoh Company, Ltd. The package consists of a silver-color GR II premium point-and-shoot camera with a textured, leather-tone finish. With an exclusively designed camera case, it will be marketed in a limited quantity of 3,200 units worldwide.

Launched in July 2015, the pocketable GR II compact is engineered to offer digital single-lens reflex (DSLR) image quality. With Wi-Fi and Near Field Communication (NFC) functionality, it employs an APS-C-size CMOS image sensor with 16.2 effective megapixels. Its compact GR 18.3mm f/2.8 lens provides a 35mm-equivalent focal length of 28mm. The lens incorporates two aspherical optical elements and a high-refraction, lowerdispersion glass element to minimize distortions and chromatic aberration.
Ricoh-Imaging-Logo-2Other key features include: an advanced GR engine V with a top sensitivity of ISO 25,600 for low-light performance; a high-speed autofocus system claimed to focus in 0.2 second; 4-frames-per-sec continuous shooting; 17 creative effects modes; a 3-inch, 1.23M-dot LCD; a built-in electronic level; and a wireless flash. Geared for street and travel photography, the camera can record Full HD movie clips with artistic bokeh effects.

Distinctive from the standard GR II, the silver edition’s shutter release button and ring cap have been finished in silver, identical to that of the camera body. The lens descriptions are engraved on the front ring using a diamond-cutting process, and the GR logo’s color on the front panel was changed to white.

When the camera’s power is turned off, the camera displays an original termination screen, which has a solid, high-grade design expressing the GR II’s product concept.

In a specially designed box, the silver edition Ricoh GR II package includes a black, genuine-leather case dedicated for the GR II camera body. The case is designed with features useful for quick-action, snapshot photography, such as a belt loop on the back, and a top cover that opens fully for easy removal of the camera. The package will retail for $699.
