Arlington, VA—The Consumer Electronics Association (CEA) announced a variety of social media promotions for the 2014 International CES that are designed to help attendees more easily navigate the show, identify the key trends and connect with business contacts, friends and colleagues.

These attractions include a Social Media Command Center, a networking event called Social Hour and a Social Media Vending Machine. These promotions will help attendees keep up with the latest trends that are happening live from CES. Owned and produced by CEA, the 2014 CES will run January 7–10, 2014, in Las Vegas, Nevada.

“We are excited to offer our attendees the opportunity to truly become more deeply immersed in the technology conversations taking place at the 2014 International CES,” said Karen Chupka, senior vice president of International CES and Corporate Business Strategy. “With the hottest trends and technologies showcased at the show, the buzz around CES’s major events, speakers and product launches is already strong. These promotions help make the CES experience even more impactful for our attendees, helping them find community, track the key trends and generally stay connected.”

The Social Media Command Center at the 2014 CES will be powered by FleishmanHillard’s black box, an interactive, portable, human-powered technology platform that integrates business data—including traditional, digital and social conversations—into real-time insight dashboards and visualizations. At the 2014 CES, black box will sift through the mountains of information being generated across the show floor and beyond.

Show attendees will be able to walk up to the touch screen populated with rotating topics based on conference content and click on a subject to see a dashboard featuring relevant content bubbling to the top, including conversational trends and the most influential conversation streams. The dashboards are downloadable and shareable, and they will be continuously updated during the event. The Social Media Command Center will be located in the Grand Lobby of the Las Vegas Convention and World Trade Center (LVCC).

“With such an enormous amount of information generated before, during and after the 2014 International CES, it can be difficult to sift out the most relevant—and actionable—content and conversations,” said Darrell Jursa, senior vice president & Partner, Global Emerging Media & Technology, FleishmanHillard, which specializes in public relations, public affairs, marketing, paid media and transmedia and social content. “By essentially making big data small, the Social Media Command Center, powered by FleishmanHillard black box, aims to change the way both attendees and non-attendees experience the energy, excitement and innovation of the 2014 CES.”

Adobe, a global provider of digital marketing and digital media solutions, and a title sponsor of Brand Matters, is bringing social data visualizations to the 2014 CES keynote stage on January 7 and 8. The graphic displays will provide the top social conversations and trending topics from Brand Matters and CES.

The Social Hour is a networking event that will be held on January 9, from 4–6 p.m. at the V Bar in the Venetian Hotel. The event provides an opportunity for the CES social media community gathering at the International CES to connect face to face at the show and network offline.

The new Social Media Vending Machine will be located in the Experience CEA display in the LVCC Grand Lobby. Attendees who use the vending machine to issue a tweet using the official CES hashtag (#CES2014) and Twitter handle (@IntlCES) will receive a CES branded T-shirt. Attendees who wear the T-shirt on the show floor will have the opportunity to win gift cards. cesweb.org
