Santa Monica, CA—On October 19, the publishers of c’t Digital Photography magazine will be conducting a premium one-day seminar series on Nature Photography. The seminar will be conducted by some of the most talented and well-known nature and landscape photographers in the business.

The lineup of presenters includes George Lepp, Ralph Clevenger, Tim Mathiesen and Ian Shive. The one-day program is being held on Saturday, October 19, from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. in the Doubletree Suites Santa Monica, located at 1707 Fourth Street in Santa Monica, California (1-310-395-3332). The program follows.

Lighting Creatively: The Path to Seeing – Ralph Clevenger.
This seminar will take attendees through a series of visual exercises designed to move them past what they’re looking at and help them to actually see the possibilities a scene has to offer. Clevenger will discuss how to use lighting to make the photographer’s vision truly unique. The goal is to understand what most images with the “wow” factor need to be created.

In Search of Sharpness: Maximizing the Creative Power of Depth of Field – George Lepp. In the digital age, photographers can overcome some of the most vexing photographic problems of the past; today they can control and precisely place the depth of field (areas of sharpness) within their images. And new techniques and software allow them to achieve virtually unlimited depth of field with subjects from high-magnification macro to vast landscapes. In this seminar, George Lepp will explore the creative power of depth of field in a variety of photographic situations and demonstrate innovative stacking techniques and software that will help attendees to achieve unlimited sharpness in their images.

Stitching Your Way to Beautiful Panoramas – Tim Mathiesen
. Panorama photographs, once only possible with special-format cameras, can now be created with any digital camera. This program will take participants through the creation of beautiful pans using a favorite camera and software. Whether they are using a high-end DSLR, a point-and-shoot model or a smartphone, attendees will learn how easy it is to create panoramic images.

During the program, Mathiesen will discuss equipment, accessories, exposure and techniques that will make stitching simple, actually creating a pan while attendees watch. Software will be discussed, as well as plug-ins that can make images even more beautiful.

Learning to Edit Your Photographs – Ian Shive with JP Harrison .
Every day the sales team at Tandem Stills + Motion, Inc., receives thousands of images from photographers around the world, and selections are made to help drive sales for those photographers. The process of curating or editing imagery is an art form that is rarely taught, but in this hour-long seminar, the Tandem team will talk about how the everyday photographer can select which frames from a shoot are the best frames, whether for a portfolio or for future sales of images. Subtle creative nuances make a major difference, and the team will explain these important details, including composition, quality, story and technique. Dozens of images will be analyzed, and the team will share their insights to help participants identify the “hero shot.”

Pricing for c’t Digital Photography’s Nature Photography seminar is $199, which includes a catered lunch and a one-year subscription to the magazine, valued at $49.95. http://ct-digiphotoblog.com/events
