Jackson, MI—PMA announced that the Digital Imaging Marketing Association (DIMA), in collaboration with the Wedding and Event Videographers Association (WEVA), will host a full-day conference on entering the field of wedding filmmaking and event videography called.

The conference, titled “Getting into Wedding & Event Filmmaking – 101,” will be held on January 9, 2012, at Bally’s Las Vegas, in conjunction with the 2012 DIMA conference.

“With the HD video technology being built into today’s professional photography equipment, there are more and more photographers wanting to delve into the world of video, which is very different than still photography,” said Chad Munce, group executive of Marketing and Digital Imaging, PMA. “WEVA is the perfect partner to bring a high level of expertise in videography to PMA members and DIMA attendees that want to take video to the next level.”

The full-day event will focus on the business and artistry of professional event filmmaking and being a videographer, from basic gear that is needed, successful business practices, marketing strategies and the “do’s and don’ts” of how to shoot great video. Also covered will be production creativity, audio and editing, and instruction on how to shoot and deliver great wedding and event films.

“WEVA is excited to be collaborating with PMA to bring an all-new program of professional development education to PMA@CES 2012 that will introduce attendees to the essential keys for success as a wedding and event filmmaker,” added Roy Chapman, chairman, WEVA International. “With the portability of today’s cameras, production gear and new IT media, professionals are no longer bound by their local geography in marketing their work allowing for more job opportunities and greater success in our industry locally, nationally and globally.”

The WEVA event is a response to the explosion of event video on YouTube and Facebook, coupled with the release of HD DSLR gear, low-cost editing solutions and new digital media, which all mean that filmmakers can now create and premier outstanding event productions for an audience that’s worldwide.

Further details of the conference program and agenda will be announced soon. pmai.org and weva.com
