In Memoriam: Imaging Industry Dignitary Mike Worswick Passes

Topeka, KS—Imaging industry notable, Mike Worswick, 75, passed away on August 10, 2021. Worswick received an ALS diagnosis in December 2020; however, despite having a terminal disease, he continued to focus on the promises of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Mike Worswick: 1946-2021

Michael Lee Worswick was born on May 11, 1946 to Harold and Elizabeth Worswick in Topeka, Kansas. After graduating high school in 1964, he went on to obtain a BBA in accounting from Washburn University. Subsequently, he worked throughout the Midwest in sales and management.

In the early 1970s, Worswick returned to Topeka to join his father, Harold, at Wolfe’s Camera; he remained CEO until the store’s closing in July 2021. In 1981, he met and married the love of his life, Debbie Worswick. They raised two children, Doug and Michelle.

Worswick became a worldwide imaging industry influencer. He served as president of the Photo Marketing Association International in 1994. Furthermore, he was president of the Photographic Research Organization (PRO) from 1996 to 2021.

In addition, he served as an officer and director of a number of Kansas and Topeka charities and organizations. He was also a passionate Youth Sunday School teacher for 40 years. Further, he served multiple terms as moderator of First Baptist Church as well as on committees and boards at Countryside United Methodist.

Worswick is survived by his wife, Debbie; their children, Doug and Michelle (Scott) Dicus; and three grandchildren, Effy, Hans and Kit. His parents, Harold and Elizabeth Worswick, as well as his sister, Karen Harkness, predeceased him.

A funeral service was held August 16th at Dove Cremations and Funerals, Southwest Chapel, 3700 SW Wanamaker Road, Topeka. In addition, the family received friends on August 15th at Dove Cremations and Funerals, Southwest Chapel.
