New York, NY—The International Center of Photography (ICP) announced that David E. Little has stepped down as executive director and taken on the role of special advisor to the board. Furthermore, ICP Trustee Bob Jeffrey was named the new CEO.

During Little’s time at ICP, he successfully settled the center in its new downtown location on the Lower East Side. In addition, he led the creation of a board-approved three-year strategic plan. He also raised the public profile of ICP domestically and internationally.

“We are deeply grateful for David’s leadership and dedication to advancing ICP’s mission, ” said Jeffrey Rosen, president, ICP board of directors. “To ensure seamless stewardship of the organization until a permanent executive director is named, the board has appointed Bob Jeffrey, ICP Trustee, CEO. We wish David the best in his future endeavors. And we thank Bob for stepping in and guiding the team through this transition.”

New CEO

Bob Jeffrey is the former chairman and CEO of J. Walter Thompson. It was the fourth largest advertising agency in the world. It is often referred to as “the billion-dollar start-up.” That’s because of its successful track record in winning new business all over the world.

Moreover, Jeffrey is known in the industry as the “Creative CEO” because of his track record in leading development of award-winning creative work. In addition, he is very committed to philanthropy. He is currently on the board of the NYC Sanitation Foundation. What’s more, he previously served on the boards of the Bob Woodruff Foundation and La Salle Academy in his hometown of Providence, Rhode Island.

“I am humbled and excited to step into the role of ICP’s CEO,” Jeffrey. “I have a steadfast commitment and dedication to ICP’s future and to its unique role in the global cultural community. In partnership with our leadership team, I look forward to charting a strategic and successful path ahead as ICP enters its next 50 years.”

The International Center of Photography is a leading institution dedicated to photography and visual culture. Cornell Capa founded ICP in 1974. He did so to champion “concerned photography”—socially and politically minded images that can educate and change the world.
