Lucie Foundation Names 2019 Chuck Westfall Award Winner

New York, NY—The 5th Annual Lucie Technical Awards, an initiative of the Lucie Foundation and sister program of the Lucie Awards, revealed the 2019 winners, including the 2019 Chuck Westfall Award honoree. They were announced at an awards ceremony on October 24, 2019, during PDN PhotoPlus Conference + Expo at Jacob Javits Convention Center in New York City.

These awards honor the most innovative products from the past year, as well as the innovators who shaped the industry. In addition to the various product categories, the Lucie Technical Awards includes the 2nd Annual Chuck Westfall Technical Education Award. This year, that award went to Bob Rose, assistant professor of Photographic Arts & Sciences at Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT).

Bob Rose graduated from Rochester Institute of Technology in 1978. Hired in 2015 by his alma mater, Rose brought more than 35 years of experience in the industry as a photographer, educator and consultant. Moreover, in 1999 he opened

VMI to provide innovative solutions and act as a technology resource for corporations and others. His worldwide contributions have allowed companies to make better products; promote their products more effectively by increasing brand awareness; and make it easier for people to use photographic equipment.

Furthermore, during his career, Rose has developed new photographic devices and techniques. He also directed the use of new technologies. What’s more, he serves as editor at large for Photo District News and Rangefinder magazines, over-viewing new products and technologies.

In addition, he has photographed on six continents and underwater in four oceans. Rose also has published countless articles and has two patents to his credit.
