Woodbury, NY—The PhotoImaging Manufacturers and Distributors Association (PMDA), an organization contributing continuously to the progress and welfare of the photo-imaging industry for more than 70 years, announced its board of directors has elected Jim Malcolm as PMDA president.

In taking the reins of the PMDA, Malcolm will continue the association’s mission to promote and advance imaging while working with member organizations to help define the future of the imaging industry. Having served on the PMDA board of directors since 2013, Malcolm, the president of Ricoh Imaging Americas Corporation, succeeds Dan Unger of Panasonic.

In addition, Marc Cutler, manager of strategic marketing analytics at Nikon Inc., and Matt DiMaria, CEO of Eyefi, were elected to the executive board as vice presidents. They join Neal Manowitz, vice president of digital imaging, consumer sales & marketing at Sony Electronics, and Michelle Fernandez, marketing director at Canon USA, as executive members.

Malcolm has spent the last 25 years in imaging technology executive positions, including general management positions at Sony Electronics. He also founded Aperture 360 Interactive, an innovative, web-based services company focused on 360º imaging.

As president of Ricoh Imaging Americas Corporation, Malcolm is responsible for guiding the company’s North American strategy for product, marketing, sales, operations and finance initiatives in support of Ricoh and Pentax brand cameras. He worked directly with Ricoh’s CEO and senior leadership team to oversee the successful post-acquisition integration of Pentax into the Ricoh brand.
