U2 helped ignite the popularity of Apple’s iTunes Music Store a few years ago when the Irish rock giants teamed up with Apple to release a special edition iPod. Now, Bono and Co. have switched sides, joining forces with Research in Motion’s BlackBerry brand for several ventures, including a BlackBerry-sponsored tour and a "mobile album."

The U2/BlackBerry team-up was announced in March, but the first TV teaser ad debuted in the U.S. over the Fourth of July weekend, just as U2’s 360 world tour was getting underway in Europe.

The advertisement features U2’s song "I Know I’ll Go Crazy (If I Don’t Crazy Tonight)," from its recent "No Line on the Horizon" album, and trumpets what is apparently a BlackBerry App World application featuring songs from the album and information about the band, including behind-the-scenes coverage of the ongoing 360 tour.

The company and band did not announce when the app would be released, but did offer a link to be notified when it is. For more information or to watch the advertisement, click here.
