New York, NY—B&H Photo announced the first Optic West Conference will take place in Monterey California. The event is scheduled for November 6–7, 2022. For those who can’t join Optic West at the Monterey Conference Center, B&H will make livestreaming options available.
The Monterey Peninsula’s scene beauty and biodiversity has inspired photographers with a love for the outdoor, landscape, wildlife and travel genres for generations. Notable photographers such as Ansel Adams, Edward Weston and Wynn Bullock have all called Monterey home.
B&H Photo’s Optic West conference will feature two days of presentations; a trade expo; photo critiques; contests; as well as a whale-watching mini-photo expedition.
Optic West Conference
The event will offer presentations on two stages. On the conference’s main stage, keynote speakers, brand ambassadors and photographers will share their work and inspiration. In addition, the Explorer & Image Critique stage will offer specialized content from speakers and sponsors. It will also be the site for image critique sessions focusing on landscape, wildlife, marine, macro, environmental as well as travel photography.
Moreover, the day one keynote speaker, Frans Lanting, will present his latest book, Bay of Life; From Wind to Whales. Cowritten with his wife and creative partner, Chris Eckstrom, it features Monterey’s unique wildlife and biodiversity. In addition, Lanting will conduct image critiques.
Furthermore, adding to the top-tier lineup for day two is Scott Kelby, a well-known leader in outdoor photography. Kelby will share his post-processing vision related to travel photography.
Also presenting are Lindlblad Expeditions’ guest speaker Flip Nicklin. Nicklin is a National Geographic photographer who specialized in whales. What’s more, covering how to take breathtaking self-portraits in the wild is Lizzy Gadd.
In addition, B&H will livestream webinars starting in October 2022 on creative technique, best practices in the field as well as post-shoot editing.
