Hampstead, MD—Cokin and OmegaBrandess announced “the first tripod to adopt the look of current, retro cameras.” Inspired by old camera design, Riviera Classic tripods combine leather and wood finishes with aluminum sturdiness.

In addition, Cokin collaborated with Slik to develop Riviera Classic. Founded in 1948, Slik is known for its unique know-how in long-lasting tripod making.

“Incredibly stable and extremely stylish, with metal tightening dials similar to those found on antique manual cameras, Riviera Classic is the tripod that was missing to affirm the neo retro look of current cameras,” Cokin announced.

Although traditional in its approach, the lineup provides all the features of modern tripods: telescopic sections; a reversible central column; a multi-action head; an ergonomic wooden tightening handle; and lockable angles.

The Classic Riviera has a maximum operating height of 63 inches and folds down to 23.6 inches. The maximum extension of the center column is 11.7 inches. Weighing 3.4 pounds, the tripod is engineered to handle a load of 11 pounds. Also featured is a multi-action head with a 360° plate.

Made of durable Iroko wood and handcrafted by Atelier Farol at La Rochelle, France, the tripod handle has been designed to provide optimal control. Over time, and upon usage, the wood patina will make it more unique.

The tripod’s leather-inspired sections are covered with a material similar to that found on premium camera bodies. Once opened, they reveal the brushed aluminum, contrasting with the tripod body. In addition, each section ends with a high-density nonslip rubber cap to ensure support on all types of fields.

“Every detail has been carefully thought out, right down to the tightening dials of the Riviera Classic,” the companies also added, “inspired by the ones found on retro cameras. Made of knurled aluminum, they offer an excellent grasp in order to precisely adjust sections and central column.”

Riviera Classic Pouch

Cokin is also including a soft pouch with each Riviera Classic tripod. The pouch is made of leather-inspired and hessian fabric. The cord is designed to be robust as well as comfortable to carry.

The suggested retail price for Cokin’s Classic Riviera tripod is $399.99. It is distributed in the U.S. by OmegaBrandess Distribution. omegabrandess.com
