Los Alamitos, CA—To address the demand for small-format photos and deliver high-volume custom output, the Epson SureLab D1070DE and Epson SureLab D1070 minilab photo printers were released. The dry-lab printers are for high-volume photo and graphic production.

For retail, event and e-commerce applications, the SureLab D1070DE boasts a duplex feeder. As a result, it provides automatic double-sided printing on sheet media for photo books, greeting cards, invitations as well as photo postcards. Moreover, for the production photo and graphics markets, its modern design integrates into workflows to deliver custom product offerings.

“Small-format, tangible photography and graphics are just as popular as ever as; people are seeking out personalized photo products and localized graphics and stationery as mementos of special moments and annual celebrations,” said Aaron Brill, associate product manager, Professional Imaging, Epson America, Inc.

“The SureLab D1070 series supports a variety of production environments; including photography labs, retail kiosks and gift shops. And with double-sided printing on the SureLab D1070DE, operators can expand applications to meet an array of printing needs previously unavailable in a small-format minilab printer.”

The SureLab D1070 and D1070DE deliver print speeds of 460 4×6-, 275 5×7- or 140 8×10-inch photos per hour. Furthermore, they are 10% faster than the previous generation.

Leveraging an enhanced 6-channel MicroPiezo printhead, AccuPhoto image-processing technology as well as UltraChrome D6r-S dye-based ink technology, they deliver true-to-life images. In addition, Epson says they accurately reproduce subtle tones in portrait photos with smooth transitions and sharp details. What’s more, when coupled with Epson genuine photo media, prints are water, smudge and fade resistant.

Moreover, UltraChrome D6r-S high-capacity 250 mL ink packs deliver wide color gamut, while cartridge-free printing helps reduce waste. The minilab printers also work on a range of high-capacity roll and double- or single-sided sheet media. This includes glossy, luster, matte as well as thick card surfaces. They offer an 8.3-inch maximum print width and BorderFree printing in frameready sizes.

Both also have front-facing 1.44-inch LCDs to simplify print tasks; as well as new nozzle detection and alignment technology for less downtime.

They also feature improved connectivity. Operators can connect them over Wi-Fi, Ethernet or USB using redesigned printer drivers for Windows/Mac. Operators may also monitor the live status of a printer fleet regardless of where they are. They can view output production rates, printer status as well as errors.

Lastly, the printers’ compact size, integrated output tray and high-speed rotary cutter make them an option for photo booths, portrait and event photography.

The SureLab D1070 minilab printer has a suggested retail price of $2,595; it will ship in fall 2021. The SureLab D1070DE has a SRP of $2,995 and will be available in 2022. Epson will also offer a duplex feeder ($599) for purchase separately to add double-sided printing to the SureLab D1070.

Both models will come with a standard one-year Epson Preferred Limited Warranty.
