Canon Adds Three Premium Fine Art Papers

Melville, NY—Canon USA announced three Premium Fine Art papers—Premium Fine Art Smooth, Premium Fine Art Bright White and Premium Polished Rag—for the professional printing market. The new paper lineup is designed for rich-color reproduction and detailed expression of gradation.

“Canon continues to be committed to our professional printing audience and these new papers are a great example of providing the tools needed to create great artwork,” said Yuichi Ishizuka, president and COO, Canon USA, Inc. “Having a wide range of versatile media support for our printers allows users to choose the best paper to create their masterpiece.”

Premium Fine Art Smooth

Fine Art Smooth was developed to produce a deep, rich black.  The paper separates the ink-receiving layers into a color-reproduction layer and an absorbing layer to allow more pigment to remain on its surface for improved color reproduction. It uses 100% cotton for the base and does not contain lignin, a substance that can result in yellow discoloration. The acid-free paper is suitable for archival prints and image longevity.

Additionally, when using newly optimized Lucia Pro ink, Canon says users will realize deeper black density, detail gradation of shadow and increased image longevity. The combination of the thickness of the paper and the soft, tender texture of cotton is said to achieve “a luxurious feeling final product.” The 310 gsm paper is available in cut sheet sizes as well as 17-, 24-, 36- and 44-inch roll sizes.

Premium Fine Art Bright White

This high-quality, 100% cotton, acid-free inkjet paper has a bright white tone to provide visual contrast. For photographic prints and fine art reproductions, this paper’s smooth, silky surface lends itself to high-color consistency and gamut. The 305 gsm media is available in 24-, 36-, 44- and 60-inch roll sizes.

Premium Polished Rag

A semigloss, acid-free, bright white, 100% cotton-based paper, it’s designed to meet the needs of photographers or artists using digital photographic output and computer-generated artwork. Canon says the “museum-quality” paper provides “excellent image sharpness and superb color gradation,” as well as “high-color consistency and gamut while being free of optical brighteners.” The 305 gsm media paper is available in 24-, 36-, 44- and 60-inch roll sizes. usa.canon.com

WhiteWall Intros ultraHD Photo Prints

New York, NY―WhiteWall, a professional photo service, introduced its new ultraHD Photo print. As a result of new exposure techniques and technologies, WhiteWall says it has achieved twice the resolution of conventionally developed pictures. The company offers two product variations available in custom sizes.

Regardless of whether a photo is taken with a medium-format camera or a smartphone, WhiteWall claims the ultraHD Photo print lives up to its name. “The pictures appear significantly more realistic than conventional prints. These incredibly sharp results are created by solid-state laser exposure working in perfect harmony with more efficient developing and drying processes.”

To make the photo paper as even as possible, it is climatized in a special room with constant humidity and stable temperature. This helps minimize laser beam dispersal to make images razor sharp. In order to prepare the images and make the most of the exposure technique, WhiteWall uses a proprietary software to optimize the color intensity and sharpness of image files.

“From panoramas to circular formats, landscapes or portraits, the ultraHD Photo print on glossy Fujifilm Crystal DP II is a great option for any image,” according to WhiteWall. The prints are available in custom formats from 3.5×3.5 inches to 98×48 inches.

In addition, for those looking for “the ultimate in image sharpness,” WhiteWall offers the ultraHD Photo print under acrylic glass. ultraHD Photo prints are available with 1/16-inch or 1/8-inch acrylic glass to accentuate the image’s depth. whitewall.com
