Valhalla, NY—Fujifilm North America’s Optical Devices Division introduced the Fujinon Duvo HZK24-300mm portable PL-mount zoom lens. The native PL-mount, dual-format lens supports two types of large image sensors. Moreover, it specializes in shallow depth of field to produce cinematic bokeh.

The Duvo 24–300mm lens supports a Super 35mm sensor as well as a full-frame sensor, with a 1.5x expander engaged.

“Cameras equipped with a large image sensor are frequently used by broadcast professionals amidst the growing needs for immersive cinematic expressions featuring the use of shallow depth of field, cinematic bokeh and high dynamic range,” said Stosh Durbacz, national sales manager, Optical Devices Division, Fujifilm North America Corporation. “The cinema lenses commonly used for these applications are optimized for shooting scripted production. They therefore have a smaller zoom magnification ratio than that of broadcast lenses. They also often require a specialist in focus operation, which is uncommon in the broadcast industry. It is in response to this that Fujifilm has created the Duvo series of lenses that simultaneously achieves the signature Fujinon filmic look and the ease of broadcast lens operation.”

Further, cinematographers can use the portable lens with a tripod; shoulder-mounted with a Steadicam; or for high-angle shooting, with a crane. The lens’s shallow depth of field allows for cinematic image expression with a bokeh effect. As a result, the lens is an option for shooting sporting events, live concerts, reality shows and other live broadcasts.

Additionally, the new lens complemens the previously released Fujinon Duvo HZK25–1000mm f/2.8–5.0 PL- mount cinema box lens. That lens was Fujifilm’s first Duvo series lens.

The new Duvo 24–300mm delivers 12.5x zoom, covering the frequently used 24–300mm focal range. What’s more, use of the Duvo 24–300mm’s built-in expander shifts the focal length by 1.5x, to 36–450mm. Consequently, users can capture faraway subjects in desirable fields of view. Notably, the Duvo 24–300mm is 10.7 inches in length and weighs 6.5 pounds.

Fujifilm will showcase the newly released Duvo 24–300mm lens at the 2024 NAB Show, Booth #C5325. Fujifilm’s third Duvo series lens, a portable, wide-angle zoom covering a 14–100mm focal length, will also exhibit at NAB.

The Fujinon Duvo 24–300mm has a suggested retail price of $31,999. Further, the lens is available for order now and will ship the end of March 2024.
