Teaneck, NJ—The first Leica Noctilux-M was introduced as early as 1966. “Since then, the light giants’ reputation as optical masterpieces has preceded them. Each of the previous Noctilux generations redefined the limits of what was technically possible and raised the imaging performance to a higher level,” Leica announced. Now Leica offers the new Leica Noctilux-M 50 F0.95 Asph Titan lens.

Furthermore, the Noctilux-M 50 f/0.95 Asph surpasses the perception of the human eye. The prime lens is now offered by Leica Camera in an exclusive special edition: the Leica Noctilux-M 50 f/0.95 Asph Titan. In addition, Leica optics and mechanical technologies have created a noticeable increase in lens speed. Furthermore, a floating element retains high image quality even in the close-up range. Plus, vignetting as well as distortion are controlled even better than in former Noctilux iterations.

The new lens features 8 elements in five groups and has a working range of 3.3 feet to infinity with a max magnification of 1:17. All visible components of the special edition are made of solid titanium. This lightweight and resistant metal gives the lens an elegant appearance and makes it a complement to all previously released Leica M-cameras in a titanium finish.

Moreover, limited to 100 pieces worldwide, the Noctilux-M 50 f/0.95 Asph Titan creates images with an unmistakable character, just like the series version. With its extremely shallow depth of field at open aperture, it produces pictures with a unique bokeh and image aesthetics. Even in low light, the Noctilux-M is said to bring out the fine details with high-contrast imaging performance.

Additional Features

Other features include a knurling that reflects the design of the S.T. Dupont for 0.95 pen collection; and glossy elements on the lens body and front cap. What’s more, this marks the first time that a high-gloss anodized aluminum surface developed by Leica was used as a design element.

In addition, each lens of this edition is accompanied by a certificate that emphasizes its uniqueness. The lens also has a pull-out, lockable lens hood.  Moreover, it measures 3 inches in length and weighs in at 25 ounces.
