Ronkonkoma, NY—Sigma Corporation of America, the U.S. subsidiary of Sigma Corporation, announced the development of two cinema lenses. The Sigma 65mm T1.5 FF Cine prime lens is an addition to Sigma’s line of full-frame prime cine lenses. Also announced was the 65mm T2.5 Cine classic prime lens.
Moreover, with the addition of these new 65mm lenses, Sigma now offers 11 full-frame-compatible prime lenses in each line. They range from 14mm to 135mm, covering the full range of standard cine focal lengths.
Sigma will announce availability of the two cine lenses at a future time.
Sigma FF High Speed Prime Line 65mm T1.5 FF
In Sigma’s FF High Speed Prime line, the 65mm T1.5 FF, augments the company’s offerings of interchangeable cinema lenses for movie production. Further, the 65mm T1.5 FF is compatible with large-format digital cinema cameras.
The prime lens incorporates an optical system specially designed for cinema lenses to meet the stringent demands of this audience. What’s more, Sigma states that as “one of the few options compatible with the latest digital cinema cameras with large image sensors, it further expands the possibilities of movie production in the digital age.”
While Sigma did not reveal the lens’s launch date, it will come in the PL mount that is /i Technology compatible, the Canon EF mount as well as the Sony E mount. The lens will feature an aperture range of T1.5–T16 and employ 9 rounded diaphragm blades.
In addition, it will have a close focus distance of 2.2 feet with a magnification ration of 1:7.9. Supplied accessories will consist of a lens cap and lens support foot. The company will announce more specifications closer to the launch date. SRP: $3,499.
Sigma 65mm T2.5 FF Classic Prime
Furthermore, in Sigma’s Classic Prime line, the 65mm T2.5 FF adopts an optical system created for the 65mm T1.5 FF cinema lens. However, like previously released FF Classic Prime lenses, its optical system is centered upon uncoated lenses. This configuration makes it possible to achieve both high resolution and classic image expression with low contrast and beautiful flare and ghosting effects.
In the /i Technology-compatible PL mount, this lens has an aperture range of T2.5–T25. It offers the same 9-blade rounded diaphragm as its sibling, as well as its close focusing distance and magnification ratio.
