Hasselblad X2D 100C Lightweight Portrait Kit

Burbank, CA—The Hasselblad X2D 100C Portrait Kit includes two lenses, the XCD 1,9/80 and XCD 4/45P. Further, to empower photographers to create portraits that tell a captivating story, the kit features Hasselblad’s flagship mirrorless medium-format camera, the X2D 100C. Hasselblad designed the lightweight kit to provide photographers with a set of professional tools specifically to capture compelling portraits.

“With the combined power of the X2D 100C and the versatility of these lenses, photographers gain access to a wide range of portrait shooting options in various scenarios, allowing them to capture powerful, narrative-driven imagery,” the company announced.

At the heart of the kit lies the X2D 100C. It boasts a 100-megapixel medium-format BSI CMOS sensor. The sensor, combined with the Hasselblad Natural Colour Solution (HNCS), ensures skin tones are faithfully reproduced. Moreover, Hasselblad engineered the camera to mirror the way the human eye perceives skin tone and color in both RAW and JPG photos. Additionally, with 16-bit color depth, photographers have flexibility in post processing.

To capture crisp, steady handheld portraits, the X2D 100C employs a 5-axis, 7-stop in-body image stabilization (IBIS) system. The system compensates for camera shake, allowing photographers to shoot in low light or at slow shutter speeds.

In addition, the camera’s autofocus system uses Phase Detection Autofocus (PDAF) technology. Consequently, it delivers swift and precise focusing at the press of a button.

What’s more, to accommodate the storage needs of professional photographers, the X2D 100C integrates a 1TB SSD. The drive provides space to store more than 4,600 RAW photos. As a result, photographers can capture high-speed, large-batch, high-resolution portrait sessions without running out of storage space.

Portrait Kit Lenses

Both lenses included in the portrait kit, the XCD 1,9/80 and XCD 4/45P, have an integral central shutter. The shutter offers exposure times ranging from 68 minutes to 1/2000s with full flash synchronization. This permits photographers to explore their creativity even in challenging mixed-lighting scenarios, blending artificial flash and natural daylight.

The XCD 1,9/80 lens is a medium-format wide-aperture autofocus lens. Hasselblad created the lens to produce “breathtaking results that center resolution and color accuracy.” As Hasselblad’s fastest lens ever, the XCD 1,9/80 has the largest aperture of any Hasselblad lens at f/1,9. Its unique twin AF motors and advanced optical design couple with creative calibration technologies.

The XCD 1,9/80 lens excels at creating an artistic bokeh effect, with smooth transitions between the sharp areas in focus and the softly blurred periphery. Additionally, when used with the X2D 100C camera, it unlocks the full potential of the 100-megapixel sensor, striking a balance between sharp, in-focus areas and beautifully rendered bokeh. On its own, the lens retails for $4,845.

The XCD 4/45P is an ultralightweight, compact medium-format autofocus lens. It was specifically developed for capturing portraits in narrow spaces. With its 36mm equivalency, the lens offers flexibility in composition. It enables the inclusiHasselblad-Logo Hasselblad Masters 2021on of contextual elements, adding depth and narrative to portrait photography.

Despite its compact size (2.04 inches long) and weight (0.7 pound), the XCD 4/45P boasts an advanced optical design. It comprises seven elements in nine groups and includes two aspherical elements to combat aberrations. Separately, this lens has an SRP of $1,099.
