Newark, NJ—In early March, four Panasonic 4K pro camcorders will launch to meet video production and broadcasting needs. Moreover, the AG-CX20 and HC-X2100 have a removable handle unit with a built-in light. The HC-X1600 is compatible with the separately sold handle unit.
Further, the 4K 60p 10-bit camcorders combine a compact, lightweight body with a 25–600mm wide-angle, 24x optical zoom lens. Improvements were also incorporated based on feedback to make the camcorders more useful for more users.
Panasonic 4K Pro Camcorders’ Main Improvements
- Improved viewfinder operability: 1,770K-dot OLED viewfinder with larger eyecups
- Change to USB-C port: The USB port was changed to the more versatile Type-C, which also feeds power to the camcorder.
- Low-bitrate recording mode (firmware): A new low-bitrate mode for FHD MP4 recording will be added in the next firmware update. It will support 28 Mbps (50p/59.94p), 24 Mbps (23.98p), and 20 Mbps (25p/29.97p).
- Improved low-speed zoom: Zoom is 2.8x slower than the previous model, to expand the range of video expression.
- Improved zoom range: i.ZOOM achieves 32x at 4K mode and 48x at FHD mode.
- Face Detection AF/AE: AF now provides precise focusing and exposure for subjects as well as color recognition.
- 5-axis hybrid OIS: Enables stable image acquisition to correct handshake in 5 axes.
- Shooting guideline display: A guideline display lets you check composition and horizontality.
- Enhanced network functionality: Supports Wi-Fi 5 GHz and USB tethering functionality
Additionally, the high-end AG-CX20/HC-X2100 models support FHD livestreaming through Wi-Fi and ethernet. The AG-CX20 will support the SRT protocol for high-quality, low-latency streaming. What’s more, the AG-CX20/HC-X2100 feature 3G-SDI and support simultaneous output with HDMI. The AG-CX20 also provides NDI HX2-compliant IP connectivity for smooth live streaming in a network environment.
