Phoenix, AZ—Tether Tools introduced its Air Direct wireless tethering system. The wireless camera controller connects and transfers images instantly from supported cameras to a computer, tablet or phone.
Air Direct is compatible with all cameras that have the ability to tether; these include Canon, Nikon, Fujifilm, Sony as well as Panasonic. Photographers can shoot wirelessly using Smart Shooter, Capture One Pro, Lightroom, Darkroom and other tethering software programs. Once connected, all features native to the tethering software are available.

Air Direct was designed specifically to create a wireless PTP connection from camera to computer and optimized to run efficiently. Moreover, with dual band antennae broadcasting 2.4GHz or 5GHz frequencies, users have the option to shoot farther or faster, depending on their needs. The Air Direct range is up to 200 feet, depending on file size. USB-C and 802.11ac wireless protocols also provide the latest technology for transfers.
In addition, the device uses its own power source, “providing photographers peace of mind they can keep shooting without running down the camera’s battery,” the company announced. Using a top-loading 2,000 mAh LP-E6 battery with a 4- to 6-hour battery life, the Air Direct does not draw from the camera’s battery. In addition, a DC power port enables continuous power via AC or larger external batteries. Also, users can hot-swap batteries without powering down the device.

Furthermore, Nikon and Canon camera users can take advantage of the companion Air Remote mobile tethering application. It is available for free in the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.
The Air Remote app is a wireless camera remote controller that works in tandem with the wireless tethering system. Air Remote (also compatible with Case Air wireless) has an intuitive design that helps make wireless tethering and remote camera control from a mobile device easy. The Air Remote mobile tethering app also features creative zone control; live view; bracketing; time-lapse; focus stacking; bulb time; and movie mode.
The Air Direct wireless tethering system is now shipping globally. The device has a retail price of $329.99.
