Lawrenceville, NJ—Datacolor expanded its Spyder Checkr product line with the Datacolor Spyder Checkr Photo. The color reference tool provides a faster, easier way to ensure accurate and consistent color.

In addition, it allows users to automatically create HSL presets to use with photoediting software. It also helps to streamline postproduction workflow, as well as ensure color consistency across cameras, lenses and sensor combinations.

“Photographers have long asked for matte color targets that limit reflectivity for more precise color. We’re happy to say that we’ve heard you. And through our new Checkr-Matte printing system, we can provide ultra-matte targets for unsurpassed color accuracy regardless of lighting conditions,” noted Casey Krugman, product manager, Consumer Solutions, Datacolor.

Spyder Checkr Photo offers the company’s most comprehensive collection of color targets. It includes 62 colors in four interchangeable cards for all types of photography. It also offers expanded skin tones for portraits; large targets for easy white/gray balancing; and 24-step grayscale for optimum exposure and dynamic range check.

The product is compact and secured in a durable, rugged case. It fits into a camera bag or pocket for on-the-go or on-location workflows.

Moreover, new methods of color target development reflect Datacolor’s commitment to color accuracy. This includes the selection of premium paper that conforms to ISO 9706 standards—meeting exacting requirements for age resistance—to high-quality inks that offer long-lasting color integrity.

In addition, Spyder Checkr Photo offers Datacolor’s most comprehensive collection of color targets in an ultra-matte finish for color accuracy and depth. It also helps streamline postproduction workflow within Adobe Lightroom Classic, Adobe Camera RAW and Hasselblad Phocus.

The product also enables alignment of multiple camera systems; for instance, DSLRs, smartphones, drones and action cameras. As a result, it is an option for event photography, such as weddings and parties.

In addition, users can replace a lost or damaged Spyder Checkr Photo target color card. Consequently, they won’t have to repurchase the entire product for just the card. Furthermore, the cards are made from 78% bamboo, a renewable resource for paper.

Datacolor’s Spyder Checkr Photo has a suggested retail price of $99.99.
