DxO ViewPoint v1.1 Restores Photos’ Natural Proportions & Perspectives

Mountain View, CA—DxO Labs released DxO ViewPoint v1.1, the new version of its software solution for Windows and Mac that is dedicated to correcting keystoning and shape deformations caused by the use of wide-angle lenses. The upgrade improves the accuracy of ViewPoint's perspective and cropping tools, as well as its speed, for a better user experience.

Based on DxO Labs’ geometrical corrections, DxO ViewPoint corrects the distortion of the subjects on the edges of images—known as volume anamorphosis—due to the use of short focal lengths (as with wide-angle lenses). The software also lets users correct the most complex kinds of perspective problems, including keystoning, without having to resort to costly shift-lenses. Each of its features includes fine-tuning controls to achieve the highest correction precision.

DxO ViewPoint can be used as a stand-alone application for Mac and Windows as well as a plug-in for Adobe Photoshop CS3, CS4, CS5 and CS6 and Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 3 and 4.

The new version features: more accurate tools; improved keystoning correction tools; more precise automatic recropping; the ability to move grid lines directly in the image without repositioning each anchor point; the anchor points and the slider settings can now be directly and precisely moved by using the keyboard; and the cropping tool now automatically detects the image’s orientation and is more easily adjustable.

DxO ViewPoint v1.1 also offers new features to improve workflow: a rotation function allows images to be correctly oriented, even when their EXIF data has been damaged; a shortcut lets users go from one zoom level to another, and automatically displays the hand and arrow tools, depending on the magnification of the image; and the recent close and open functions in the menus now alert users when a keystoning correction cannot be applied to the image.

DxO ViewPoint v1.1 for Windows and Mac is available at a special discount price of $49 instead of $79 through December 25, 2012. The upgrade is free for all owners of DxO ViewPoint v1.0. dxo.com
