Upper Saddle River, NJ—In celebration of its 100th anniversary, Gitzo introduced two limited edition tripods: the 100-Year Anniversary Edition Traveler and the Arsène Gitzhoven Traveler tripods.
Not just a celebratory photography support, the 100-Year Anniversary Traveler tripod is designed as “the ultimate high-performance professional tool featuring a unique design and the very latest technology,” Gitzo announced.
This edition boasts a new “high-appeal look and feel with a distinctive design,” a brand-new magnesium spider, new leg-angle selectors and locking collars. It is available worldwide in a very limited edition of 1917 pieces, commemorating Gitzo’s year of foundation.
Also celebrating the brand’s 100th anniversary, the flagship Arsène Gitzhoven Traveler tripod is named after the visionary founder who created the company in 1917. The first model to feature a full carbon fiber spider, it will be available in only 100 pieces worldwide.
“Gitzo initiated the travel tripod era, creating products designed to be companions for life. The world’s most inspirational brand of tripods and heads is celebrating its first centenary of tradition, innovation and expertise that have made it a beacon of excellence in the photographic world,” the company announced.
100-Year Anniversary Traveler Tripod
The limited-edition number of each tripod is laser engraved on one leg, from 1/1917 to 1917/1917. The tripod introduces a new magnesium spider, emphasized by a black finish and titanium gray details.
Furthermore, it has Gitzo’s latest Traveler series-1 technological features. These include Carbon eXact tubing and a 180° leg-folding mechanism. The Traveler G-lock mechanism is engineered to make the tripod compact, strong and ergonomic. In addition, a new center ball head was added for smoothness and precision. Moreover, the tripod comes with a strap made of genuine Italian leather with a carbon fiber look.
The tripod has a load capacity of 22 pounds supported by four-section legs. It reaches a maximum height of 55.5 inches, or 64.96 inches with its push-and-pull, rapid center column fully raised. Retracted, it has a minimum height of 9.25 inches. Weighing 3 pounds, it folds down to 16.9 inches.
Other features include a magnesium alloy body and carbon fiber legs. In addition, there are rubber feet, an Arca-type quick-release plate and a detachable ballast hook. Furthermore, its removable ball head is engraved with Gitzo’s 100-year anniversary logo. The ball head provides up to a 90° tilt for portrait orientation and rotates 360°. It can also be locked into place along its range of movement. A secondary, short center column, providing a height of 8.6 inches, is also included for low-angle photography.
The 100-Year Anniversary Edition Traveler tripod and its accessories come in a special black, branded chest with leather detailing. Also included is the tripod’s certificate of authenticity signed by Gitzo’s CEO, along with the name of the craftsman who created each specific piece. The limited edition tripod has a suggested retail price of $1,499.99.
