Newark, NJ—Panasonic announced the Leica DG Summilux 15mm f/1.7 Asph lens for the Micro Four Thirds format. A 30mm-equivalent lens, it allows photographers to capture images with artistic defocus features produced by the f/1.7 lens.

The compact, lightweight lens is comprised of nine elements in seven groups. It uses three aspherical lenses to suppress spherical aberration and distortion while downsizing the lens unit. Panasonic’s Nano Surface Coating technology aids in minimizing the reflection at the entire visual light range (380–780nm) to reduce ghost and flare.

The metal lens incorporates an inner focus system and a newly developed stepping motor to make focusing smooth and silent for use in both photo capture and video recording. It’s also equipped with an aperture ring and AF/MF switch for direct, intuitive operation.

The Leica DG Summilux 15mm f/1.7 Asph lens is available in black. $599.99. panasonic.com
