Mississauga, ON—PlanOn System Solutions, a scanning/printing solutions provider for mobile professionals, announced its ScanStik, which it dubs “the world’s smallest full-page color scanner.” Pen-size and designed for ease of use, ScanStik scans a whole page at once, like a flat-bed scanner, and using its click-and-scan function, a full page is scanned in 4 seconds. For added convenience, there’s a microSD memory slot to hold thousands of image scans from 150- to 600-dpi resolution in color or black and white.

After scanning, users can plug ScanStik into a computer’s USB port to transfer, organize and edit scans with the included ABBYY FineReader SE and PaperPort OCR software and PlanOn’s CLC (Crystal Line Contact) image technology, developed for better OCR accuracy and image quality. ScanStik also includes a rechargeable lithium polymer battery, which charges ScanStik via the computer’s USB slot.

For mobile professionals, the ScanStik is smaller then full-page scanners and fits in a bag or purse, saving time by allowing them to have their office tools with them at all times. At the office, it eliminates the need to use an office scanner and then retrieve the file on the network.

For use at home, ScanStik can capture photos, expense receipts and important personal documents, and files can be organized with the included software.

Other features include a multipage scan mode; 24-bit color JPG and black-and-white scans; an LED function display; selectable resolutions and formats; and free firmware updates. Measuring 8.9×0.5×0.5 inches, ScanStik comes with a USB cable, leather case, an installation disk and OCR software—for $159.99. planon.com
