Launched in 2014, Platypod Pro LLC is a small, family-owned business “committed to making excellent quality products for professional photographers and videographers at affordable prices.”

Inspired by the duck-billed platypus, an animal with flat, broad feet, compact Platypod tripods feature high ergonomics and a flat shape that balances DSLRs and lenses.

What’s more. there are two versions of Platypod tripods. The Max is for DSLRs and video cameras with heavy lenses; the Ultra works with lighter DSLRs, mirrorless cameras and compact action cameras, as well as smartphones.

In addition, the company is poised to release Platyball this year. It is its first button-operated tripod head with an inverted design and an electronic leveling indicator.
