Santa Fe Springs, CA—Plustek Technology, a manufacturer of consumer, prosumer and professional imaging devices, extended its OpticFilm line of scanners with the launch of the OpticFilm 120 film scanner. The new device is engineered to deliver professional image quality results from 35mm filmstrips, slides and 120/220 film formats from 6×4.5 up to 6×12.
“We are so excited to launch this new scanner,” said Mark Druziak, Plustek’s director of Marketing and Business Development. “Not only is this scanner perfect for professional and semiprofessional photographers due to the exceptional image quality, but small photo labs, schools, hobbyists and photography clubs can benefit from this scanner as well because of its flexibility to scan both 35mm and 120 film and its automatic feeder. It allows novice and experienced users the ability to quickly and easily produce high-quality images.”
Bundled with the scanner is LaserSoft Imaging SilverFast Ai Studio 8, which includes Multi-Exposure and iSRD—two essential technologies for scanning filmstrips and slides. Multi-Exposure enhances dynamic range, diminishes noise and enriches detail. SilverFast iSRD electronically removes dust and scratches from film using the scanner’s built-in infrared channel.
The scanner’s optical and electronic systems include an eight-element glass lens with a measured 5,300-dpi optical resolution as well as a stable LED light source. Other features include: support for 6×5, 6×6, 6×7, 6×9 and 6×12 frame sizes; a patent-pending adjustable pitch 120/220 film holder that holds 120/220 film strips flat; IT8 calibration slide for color accuracy; infrared channel for dust and scratch removal; motorized film transport for automatic batch scanning; a folding rear cover that saves desktop space and prevents dust from entering the scanner; compatibility with Windows and Mac operating systems; an a USB 2.0 interface. $2,000. plustek.com/usa
