Long Beach, CA—The Røde Wireless ME was added to the company’s range of wireless microphones. Moreover, the Wireless ME is an ultracompact, easy-to-use wireless microphone system.
Further, to coincide with the release of the Wireless ME, Røde launched a free iOS video app, Røde Capture. For today’s content creators, the video app is a platform for making content on an iPhone.
“Combining the same unmatched sound quality and innovative features that Røde wireless microphones are revered for with unprecedented ease of use, it is the ultimate grab-and-go microphone for content creators,” the company said of its new mic.
Røde Wireless ME Key Features
The new microphone boasts Røde’s series IV 2.4GHz digital transmission for clear recording with a 328-foot range. It also features the company’s Intelligent GainAssist technology that automatically controls audio levels for clear sound in any application.
What’s more, broadcast-grade microphones are built into both the transmitter and receiver for dual-channel recording. Users can also connect an additional transmitter for capturing three microphones simultaneously.
The wireless mic connects to cameras, smartphones and tablets (iOS and Android), as well as computers (Mac and Windows). And all required cables are included.
In addition, building on the same form factor as the previous Wireless GO generations, the Wireless ME has new features that make it more user-friendly. The Wireless ME consists of a single transmitter and receiver, which are paired out of the box for quickly getting set up.
In addition to the series IV 2.4GHz digital transmission, it uses a proprietary near-zero latency codec with 128-bit encryption for stable audio. Notably, the Wireless ME also features a “narrator” microphone built into the receiver unit. Dubbed the “ME Mic,” this feature allows creators to record audio from in front of and behind the camera simultaneously. Consequently, they can capture two-way interviews. 
For enhanced creative potential, users can also connect a second Wireless ME or Wireless GO II transmitter to the receiver. This enables dual-channel recording, or even a three-microphone wireless system.
What’s more, its GainAssist technology uses intelligent algorithms that automatically control volume levels on-the-fly to ensure audio is balanced and doesn’t clip or distort. This technology is more advanced than standard automatic gain control features found on cameras. There are two modes available, auto and dynamic, depending on recording scenario. The output gain is also adjustable to match the recording device.
Røde Capture App 
While all the mic’s features are accessible via the Røde companion app for desktop and mobile, Røde Central, a free iOS video app, Røde Capture, was released. The new app offers unique features with an intuitive interface. Moreover, it is a platform for shooting video content for TikTok, Snapchat, YouTube Shorts and Instagram Reels.
For the first time ever, Røde Capture allows users to control their video and audio in the same app. It also offers direct in-app control of compatible Røde products, including the Wireless ME, Wireless GO II and the VideoMic GO II. This includes turning features on and off, activating digital signal processing, adjusting audio levels and advanced configuration.
Røde Capture is a full-featured video app, offering control over aspect ratio, video resolution, frame rate and zoom. It also features dual cam modes for recording with the primary front and selfie cameras simultaneously, either in split screen or picture-in-picture mode.
This feature integrates with the Wireless ME’s built-in transmitter and receiver microphones. As a result, creators can record video and audio from in front of and behind the camera.
The Røde Wireless ME system has a suggested retail price of $149.
