The update offers new features that are particularly important for video shooting, as well as drone, inspection/surveying and e-commerce applications. Sony Camera Remote SDK Update Details

Version 1.10 (and later) adds support for “focus position setting,” which enables remote acquisition of the current focus position and focus sending to an arbitrary position. What’s more, in response to requests from customers, the new version attains focal length information.

There are also expanded menu settings for still and movie capture. These updates involve interval shooting functions and AF-tracking sensitivity settings. It also updates menu settings for pre- and post-settings, with a wider variety of settings now changeable.

Also included in the SDK update is event notification, such as video recording start/stop and “focus position setting” completion to enable high-speed, remote command processing. In addition, status acquisition, such as during media writing, is extended so that the system can efficiently organize workflows by understanding the camera status.

Sony will update the SDK site after September 13, 2023.

Furthermore, the Camera Remote SDK can be used to control several cameras in the Sony camera range. A list of compatible cameras is available here.
