New York City, NY—Sony Electronics added the Sony VCT-SGR1 compact shooting grip accessory to expand the functionality of the company’s Cyber-shot RX0 and RX100 series of point-and-shoot cameras. The announcement was made concurrent with the introduction of the Sony Cyber-shot RX100 VI compact, P&S camera.
Sony VCT-SGR1 Key Features
Particularly suited for vlogging, travel photography and taking self-portraits or selfies, the new VCT-SGR1 is a vertically-oriented shooting grip. The accessory attaches to Sony’s RX0 as well as RX100 series of cameras via their multi/Micro USB terminal. Moreover, the grip is compact as well as lightweight and can adjust angles up 70º or down to 100º to capture different perspectives, such as high-angle shots, low-angle shots and self-portraits.
The accessory features several buttons at the top of the grip, including shutter release, record stop/start and zoom functionality. In addition, it allows for easy fingertip control for both right and left handed usage.
Moreover, the bottom of the grip can be spread out and used as a tripod. As a result, the grip can be used as an accessory for group photos or in low-light shooting conditions to avoid camera shake when shooting at slower shutter speeds.
The Sony VCT-SGR1 shooting grip is scheduled to ship this September in North America.
It will have a suggested retail price of approximately $100.
