Las Vegas, NV—Think Tank Photo will release a travel-friendly backpack for users of DJI Phantom 2, Phantom 2 Vision and other similar-sized drones. The Airport Helipak, due to ship in February, will hold a drone plus a GoPro action cam; a 15-inch laptop, a controller, Wi-Fi range extender, charger, spare rotors, extra batteries and a Delvcam Camera-Top 7-inch HDMI LCD monitor—all while complying with airline carry-on size requirements.
Movable dividers allow users to customize the fit of their gear, and the pack’s contoured adjustable harness with lumbar support and articulated air-channel, adjustable sternum strap and removable padded waist belt are designed for comfort while trekking by foot or on mountain bike.
“As with all Think Tank gear, the Airport Helipak will be backed by our commitment to using only the highest quality materials,” said Think Tank Photo’s president and lead designer, Doug Murdoch. “These include YKK RC fuse zippers, a 1680D ballistic nylon bottom panel, metal hardware and nylon webbing that are the most durable, longest lasting materials on the market. The last thing drone users want to worry about is if their backpack will hold up in rigorous outdoor conditions.”
Other features include: protective rotor thread caps; internal see-through mesh pockets for small accessories; an organizer for smartphones, wallets, pens, keys, business cards, etc.; a side water bottle pocket; elastic pockets on the shoulder strap for phone, energy bar, GU pack; and handles on three sides to ensure rapid retrieval from overhead bins or car trunks.
All exterior fabric has a water-repellant (DWR) coating, plus the underside of the fabric has a polyurethane coating. It also has YKK RC abrasion-resistant zippers, 3D air mesh, ultra-stretch pockets, Y-buckles, antique-finish metal hardware and an interior seam-sealed rain cover.
Think Tank Photo’s Airport Helipak has exterior dimensions of 14×20.5×9 inches, interior measurements of 13×18.8×7.6 inches and weighs 4.6 pounds. thinktankphoto.com
