Irvine, CA—The new Insta360 Ace and Insta360 Ace Pro are wide-angle action cameras that deliver smarter action capture powered by AI. They’re also built tough for outdoor enthusiasts and adventure seekers.

“With Insta360 Ace and Ace Pro, we’re bringing smarter action capture to thrill seekers around the world,” said JK Liu, founder of Insta360. “We’re making significant steps in AI. This has allowed us to bring in new features that we think not only make the video creation process easier for users, but unlocks completely new ways to make shots truly stand out.”

Both cameras feature smart shooting features that utilize the latest in AI (artificial intelligence). For instance, they offer practical elements like a vlogging-friendly 2.4-inch flip touchscreen and innovative functions like the option to pause or cancel a recording. Also provided is gesture and voice control, the brand-new AI Highlights Assistant and a custom-keyword based AI Warp feature.

Insta360 Ace and Ace Pro Key Features

The flagship version of the action camera is the Insta360 Ace Pro. Co-engineered with Leica, it boasts a 1/1.3-inch sensor, a 5nm AI chip as well as a 16mm Leica Summarit lens. Further, creators can capture 4K, 120-frames-per-sec video and 48-megapixel photos. Plus, the company’s PureVideo tech enables low-light shooting. The camera also has PD fast charging to 80% in 22 minutes.

Conversely, the Insta360 Ace is a budget-friendly option that employs a smaller 1/2-inch, 48MP image sensor, a regular lens and standard charging.

The Ace Pro’s premium 1/1.3-inch sensor captures more light and offers far better dynamic range than previous sensors. As a result, the camera is an option for capturing fast-moving action scenarios or shooting in challenging lighting.

In addition, both the Ace and Ace Pro have a dedicated shooting mode for low light: PureVideo. Powered by a 5nm AI chip, the cameras use a custom-trained AI neural network to denoise the footage for a clearer image. Further, the big sensor on the Ace Pro captures an enhanced level of detail with stabilization, even at night.

However, for daytime shooting, the Ace Pro features built-in Active HDR tech (high dynamic range). This is especially helpful for shooting scenes with both bright and dark areas, with more details in the highlights and shadows. Insta360’s engineers also put a serious amount of work into color accuracy. Consequently, the Ace Pro delivers accurate and rich colors, even when underwater.

AI is a key element in the overall image quality, too. Insta360’s R&D teams specifically trained computational photography models based on the cameras’ unique lens and sensor data. The result is the 48MP photo mode and 4K, 30-fps PureVideo. They enhanced the signal-to-noise ratio as well as the dynamic range in low light.

Additional Features

Moreover, the Ace Pro’s 2.4-inch flip touchscreen lets you see exactly what you’re shooting, making framing easier. The touchscreen’s preview functions also make the camera a tool for vlogging, selfies, hard-to-capture angles and action scenarios. What’s more, a magnetic mounting system lets you mount the camera and switch between accessories—no fussing with screws and knobs. Insta360-Ace-and-Ace-Pro-on-helmet

Further, Insta360 added several imaging functions for a better shooting experience.

• Clarity Zoom: The Ace Pro zooms in and out 2x without any loss in quality.
• Gesture Control: You can use hand signals to start/stop recording or take a photo. This is an option for taking group selfies, in noisy environments or if using voice control doesn’t feel right.
• Cancel Recording: You can instantly cancel the recording and go again, saving space on the SD card. You’ll also have fewer files to sort.
• Pause/Resume Recording: Time between shots? Hit pause and record to keep everything you want to film in one continuous file for easier file management and editing.
• Photo Grab: Use this when you’re filming a video and an ideal photo op presents itself. Keep filming and take a photo at the same time—in higher resolution than a screen grab.

Moreover, if you’re intimidated by the number of files you’ve created, here’s a tool to help: AI Highlights Assistant. It automatically detects the peak moments in a video to deliver clip highlights for in-camera review. Merge every moment into one recap or choose the ones you like and delete the unwanted clips. AI Assistant will also edit your adventures into one video and push it to your mobile device via the Insta360 app. The Insta360 app also has advanced AI editing tools. You can use auto-editing tools or go manual with the full editing suite.

More Creative Features

Notably, the Ace cameras come with a Stats Dashboard and the cameras integrate with a Garmin device or Apple Watch. As a result, it allows you to overlay your videos with GPS, speed and other data. Another new creative tool is AI Warp, which expands Insta360’s Shot Lab lineup. Through preset or custom keywords, you can add effects to your videos. This AI feature is customizable to give your footage a twist based off any prompt you think of.

The Ace series also features Insta360’s signature shooting modes, including the ability to shoot time lapses and hyperlapses. Plus, the invisible selfie stick effect is also possible with the Ace cameras via the new AI selfie stick eraser function. It will render your selfie stick invisible in shots for a more immersive third-person experience. Insta360-Ace-and-Ace-Pro-underwater

Of course, the cameras sport a waterproof design. They can handle depths down to 33 feet. Plus, the dive case lets you take your camera down to 196 feet. Other adventure-proof features include the cameras’ ability to operate in temperatures as low as -4°F, for winter sports shooting. The cameras also utilize Insta360’s FlowState Stabilization technology, for smooth videos. Moreover, 360° Horizon Lock will keep your videos level, even when you’re on the move.

Bluetooth and Wi-Fi enabled, the Insta360 Ace and Ace Pro are available now for preorder. The Insta360 Ace has a suggested retail price of $379.99. The flagship Insta360 Ace Pro is priced at $449.99.
