“With over two billion images generated during the beta, Adobe Firefly is ushering in a new era of creative expression for customers across every segment,” said David Wadhwani, president, Digital Media Business at Adobe. “Firefly’s breathtaking capabilities combined with the rich tooling of our Creative Cloud apps, Express, the Firefly web app and Adobe Experience Cloud, give creators unparalleled opportunities to work with generative AI in new, rich and productive ways.”

Firefly supports text prompts in more than 100 languages, enabling users to create content that is safe for commercial use. And with new Generative Credits included in their subscriptions, Creative Cloud, Express and Firefly subscribers will benefit from expanded Firefly-powered capabilities as part of their workflows.

In addition, creative generative AI in Photoshop and Illustrator, powered by Firefly, are now available in several Creative Cloud apps. They include Generative Fill and Generative Expand in Photoshop as well as Generative Recolor in Illustrator.

In addition, Adobe Firefly for Enterprise is now generally available for businesses to deploy AI-generated content. Customers can access Firefly for Enterprise through Creative Cloud, Express and Experience Cloud. Adobe’s first model was trained on Adobe Stock images, openly licensed content and public domain content where copyright has expired. The company is working with Enterprise customers to enable them to customize models using their own assets to generate custom content.

Creative Cloud

The next generation of Creative Cloud starts with Firefly-powered features now available in Photoshop and Illustrator, as well as AI-powered innovation in Premiere Pro and After Effects. To enable broad access to generative AI workflows, Creative Cloud paid plans also now include the new Firefly web application as well as Express Premium.

Express Premium is an all-in-one creativity app with generative AI Text to Image and Text Effects features. Adobe added these features to make it fast and easy to design and share social media posts, videos, images, PDFs, flyers as well as logos.

Adobe Express

Express is the AI-first, all-in-one creativity app that enables users to design and share content. Firefly features in Express, including Text to Image and Text Effects, are now commercially available to creators globally.

Firefly-powered effects in Adobe Express make it seamless to import, edit as well as sync assets across applications; make social media videos and posts; and resize creations.

AI features in Premiere Pro

In addition, Adobe added automatic filler word detection to Text-Based Editing. The new Enhance Speech feature permits users to remove noise from voice recordings with a single click. Also, the Premiere Pro timeline is now up to 5x faster, to make editing and trimming more responsive. Additional improvements include new simplified color preferences, improved tone mapping, new project templates, custom export locations as well as audio type tagging.

After Effects Add Ons

Further, the new 3D workspace and Roto Brush in After Effects, available in the After Effects beta app, is a true 3D workspace that lets users import, texture, light, shade and render 3D models right inside of After Effects. With the new 3D workspace, users can combine 3D models with 2D graphics to create VFX composites and motion graphics. A new, AI-enhanced Roto Brush is also available in the After Effects beta app. It allows users to cut out objects from footage faster and more accurately than before.

Generative Credits

Adobe also introduced a new credit-based model for generative AI across all offerings via Generative Credits. These tokens enable customers to turn a text-based prompt into image and vector creations in Photoshop, Illustrator, Express and Firefly. Firefly, Express Premium and Creative Cloud paid plans now include an allocation of monthly Generative Credits.

After the plan-specific number of “fast” Generative Credits is consumed, subscribers can continue to generate content at slower speeds. Or they can buy additional “fast” Generative Credits through a Firefly paid subscription plan.

Creative Cloud, Firefly and Express users on free plans will also now receive monthly Generative Credits. Once users reach the plan-specific number of Generative Credits, there’s an option to upgrade to a paid plan to continue creating assets with features powered by Firefly for $4.99 a month.

Starting November 2023, Adobe will permit users to purchase additional “fast” Generative Credits through a subscription pack.

Adobe GenStudio

Further, Adobe introduced Adobe GenStudio, a solution that combines the best of content ideation, creation, production and activation to enhance the Enterprise content supply chain with generative AI. Adobe GenStudio is an integrated solution for any Enterprise to simplify their creation-to-activation process with generative AI capabilities and intelligent automation.

Creative Cloud Subscription Pricing Update

In addition to the generative AI capabilities, Firefly application and Express Premium, Creative Cloud members now have access to other new capabilities. These capabilities include Denoise in Lightroom, Text-Based Editing in Premiere Pro and Share for Review in Photoshop and Illustrator, along with workflow enhancements.

To reflect the increased value and costs associated with generating content with AI models, Adobe shared price updates for individual and business offerings. Starting November 1, 2023, the price of specific Creative Cloud plans will increase in North America, Central America, South America and Europe. A Customer Centric Approach to AI

As a partner to individuals and businesses of all sizes, Adobe states it develops and deploys AI capabilities with a customer-centric approach. The company is guided by its AI Ethics principles to ensure content and data transparency. Moreover, Adobe designed Firefly’s generative AI output to be safe for commercial use. Further, Firefly for Enterprise offers businesses the opportunity to obtain an intellectual property (IP) indemnification for content generated by most Firefly-powered workflows.

What’s more, by default, Firefly includes Content Credentials on every asset created using Firefly. They indicate that generative AI was used, bringing more transparency to digital content. Content Credentials are verifiable details that serve as a digital “nutrition label.” They can show information such as an asset’s name, creation date, tools used for creation and any edits made.

Powered by free, open-source technology from the Content Authenticity Initiative (CAI), this data remains associated with content wherever it is used, published or stored. As a result, it enables proper attribution and helps consumers make informed decisions about digital content.

“AI innovation is most powerful in the hands of creators,” said Ashley Still, senior vice president, Digital Media at Adobe. “We’re entering into a new era of creativity for all, with AI built into the fabric of creative workflows across our Creative Cloud applications and the promise of new creative magic with Firefly and Express.”
