Center Valley, PA—Olympus introduced its CBG-12 premium camera backpack, scheduled to be available at the end of December 2016. The compact, rugged pack is for on-the-go photo enthusiasts who want to carry a variety of Olympus OM-D series cameras, interchangeable lenses and accessories.

The CBG-12 backpack was developed to store the entire Olympus OM-D E-M1 Mark II camera system with additional room. The backpack is designed to effectively distribute the weight of multiple pieces of gear. This is to allow photographers to carry it comfortably for long periods of time.

It holds two OM-D E-M1 Mark II cameras with HLD-9 powered grips attached, M.Zuiko Digital ED 7–14mm f/2.8 Pro, M.Zuiko Digital ED 12–40mm f/2.8 Pro, M.Zuiko Digital ED 40–150mm f/2.8 Pro and M.Zuiko Digital ED 300mm f/4.0 IS Pro interchangeable lenses.

Additionally, it accommodates other accessories, such as the FL-900R electronic flash and a laptop.

The pack’s 18 included partitions, with six different shapes, can be positioned or removed to customize its storage pattern. As a result, users can create space for multiple system configurations and equipment needs. In addition to the main compartment opening, two openings on the left side of the backpack provide quick access.

The same stainless lens mount on the OM-D E-M1 Mark II camera is incorporated as an emblem on the pack’s back. And the pack is also compact enough to clear carry-on luggage standards for aircraft.

For comfort when carrying equipment for long periods of time, the pack’s shoulder straps and waist belt are equipped with the same type of stabilizers as mountain-climbing rucksacks. This allows a user to adjust the pack to customize it for his body. Properly tightening the chest straps helps keep the shoulder straps from shaking and stabilizes the body when carrying heavy equipment.

Furthermore, the length and shape of the pack’s rear panel is designed to appropriately distribute weight across the shoulders and waist. A thick lumbar pad is also added to decrease strain on users’ shoulders.

In addition, a mesh pad with an open center helps keep the user’s back cool. Additionally, the upper section of the backpack is equipped with a thick-padded handle designed for lifting the backpack when carrying heavy loads.

For use in harsh conditions, the backpack is made of the same durable, 2520D (denier) polyester material used in many outdoor backpacks. The exterior shell features water-repellent capabilities to protect gear. Additionally, material is incorporated throughout to effectively cushion the backpack for added protection. Plus, waterproof and abrasion-resistant tarpaulin material is also used on the bottom of the backpack. Rubber feet on the bottom deliver enhanced dirt resistance and durability.

Additional CBG-12 Features

Other features include: a yellow material lining that serves as a visual reminder to close the backpack; two rain covers for harsh weather; a water-repellent groundsheet to protect the backpack from getting dirty when placed on the ground; straps for securing a telephoto lens; and internal straps for stabilizing and securing large lenses.

For more storage, the separately available soft camera cases CS-42SF and CS-44SF, as well as subcases included with the CBG-10, can be attached to the waist belt strap. The CSCH-123 and CSCH-124 can also be attached to the shoulder straps.

The Olympus CBG-12 premium camera backpack will be available in black. It ships in December 2016 with a suggested retail price of $349.99. olympusamerica.com
