Torrance, CA—Pelican Products, Inc., set a new company benchmark with the launch of the Pelican Air 1646 case. It is the largest case in the Pelican Air lineup. This latest Pelican Air case grows the line to 16 unique sizes.

With more than 6,800 cubic inches of usable space, the Air 1646 case boasts a long, deep form factor. As a result, the case is perfect for storing longer and deeper equipment.

“Logistics issues for our on-the-go users traveling with large kits is a bit of a nightmare; so, we created the lighter weight, 1646 Pelican Air case to give them a transport option that allows for easy consolidation,” said Vince LaDuca, Product Manager, Pelican Products Commercial and Government Division.

The new case provides room for fragile and valuable equipment, such as cinema-grade cameras to tactical gear. Videographers will appreciate its ability to store cameras upright for more efficient use of space.

Notably, configurations for the new case will offer the choice of two interior options to meet performance needs. Pelican’s Classic Pick N’ Pluck foam configuration is a manually customizable solution; it features prescored foam for fast, simple protection to fit almost any equipment. Conversely, the No Foam configuration allows a blank slate for custom interior solutions.

What’s more, with a weight up to 40% lighter than a standard Pelican Protector case, the Air 1646 has a pull trolley and wheels that are roll tested over 3,000 feet. It also boasts classic Pelican case features. They include a watertight O-ring gasket; a crushproof and dustproof exterior; stainless steel hasp protectors; rubberized, over-molded handles; and push button latches.

Other features include a retractable extension handle; an automatic purge valve that keeps water and dust out while balancing air pressure; stainless steel bearing wheels; and a business card holder.

Furthermore, just like the classic Protector cases, each Pelican Air case is subjected to external third-party lab testing to certify IP67 ingress protection and military standard impact, drop and extreme temperature performance.

Backed by Pelican’s Lifetime Guarantee of Excellence, the Air 1646 case with foam is available in black. It has a suggested retail price of $450.
