Melville, NY—The latest addition to Canon’s PowerShot family of compact, point-and-shoot cameras provides a host of features for entry-level photographers. The PowerShot SX740 HS is targeted at everyone from families on the go and those who enjoying posting photos to social media to up-and-coming vloggers.
Canon USA’s new PowerShot SX740 HS digital camera boasts an integral 40x optical zoom lens. The lens provides a focal length range equivalent to 24–960mm. Furthermore, the P&S camera uses a 20.3 megapixel CMOS imaging sensor. In addition to capturing high-res still photos, it records 4K video, which is a first in the PowerShot series.

The new model also features Canon’s Digic 8 image processor. The processor enables high-speed continuous shooting at up to 7.4 frames per second. It also offers dual-sensing image stabilization for blur-free imagery, automatic image transfer to compatible smart devices and a feature assistant. In addition, its 3-inch LCD screen rotates 180º. All these PowerShot SX740 HS features help make the transition away from smartphone photography to digital camera photography fun and easy, the company announced.
The new compact camera also has an ergonomic design. In addition, it provides built-in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth technology.

The PowerShot SX740 HS point-and-shoot camera will be available for purchase in late August. It will have a suggested retail price of $399.99.
