Melville, NY—Canon USA added to its entry-level Rebel DSLR lineup with the EOS Rebel T6. With built-in Wi-Fi and NFC connectivity, it offers easy sharing of high-resolution photos and Full HD video to social media sites, via mobile devices and Canon’s Connect Station CS100.
“Smartphone users passionate about photography and ready to take that next step to creating their best images and videos ever will appreciate the ease of use and affordability of the new EOS Rebel T6 camera,” said Yuichi Ishizuka, president and COO, Canon USA, Inc. “With the latest addition of the EOS Rebel T6 camera, the Canon EOS Rebel series continues to be one of the most popular DSLR camera lines on the market.”
EOS Rebel T6 Features
Key Rebel T6 features include an 18 megapixel Canon CMOS (APS-C) image sensor and Digic 4+ image processor. The combo provides an ISO range of 100–6400. This is expandable to ISO 12,800 for shooting in bright light to low light. The DSLR also employs a 9‐point autofocus (AF) system that includes one center cross‐type AF point and AI servo AF. The camera is capable of shooting full-res, 18MP still photos continuously at up to 3 frames per second (fps), with predictive autofocus to help keep images sharp, even with moving subjects.
There is also an optical viewfinder to help facilitate quick and accurate focusing. Complementing this is a 3-inch LCD monitor with 920,000 dots.
The T6’s scene intelligent auto mode analyzes images, accounting for faces, colors, brightness, moving objects, contrast and whether the camera is handheld or on a tripod. It then chooses the optimum exposure and enhancements for virtually any scene or situation.
An addition to the EOS Rebel T6 is food mode on the mode dial. This mode was added so foodies and bloggers can easily capture images of the food they love. Food mode enhances the color and brightness of food images while at the same time making them ready to share.
Other fully automatic exposure modes include portrait, night portrait, landscape, sports and close-up. Additionally, Full HD 1080p video mode captures video with a choice of automatic or manual focusing. Creative filters such as fisheye, toy camera, miniature and soft focus give users more ways to create imaginative images.
Plus, the camera’s new white priority auto white balance setting enables photographers to create images with a more neutral tone when shooting under incandescent lighting.
In addition to its automatic modes, the DSLR provides complete manual exposure and focus controls, plus RAW image output for advanced amateur photographers and photography students.
The Canon EOS Rebel T6 is compatible with the entire Canon EF and EF-S lens system, including 60+ current models offering different perspectives ranging from fisheye to super telephoto. The suggested retail price is $549.99 when bundled with the EF-S 18–55mm f/3.5–5.6 IS II standard zoom lens. usa.canon.com
