Melville, NY—Canon USA unveiled the entry-level Canon EOS Rebel T8i digital SLR to capture and record family memories. The newest and highest-performing Rebel features a Digic 8 image processor; eye detection in live view; 4K video recording; and clean 4K HDMI output. Moreover, it is the first EOS DSLR with vertical video.

The lightweight EOS Rebel T8i camera is ideal for documenting family activities and for aspiring shutterbugs looking to go beyond the auto feature. This camera employs a 24-megapixel APS-C-format CMOS sensor. It works with the Digic 8 processor to achieve continuous shooting at 7 frames per second and an ISO range of 100–25,600, which expands to 51,200.

Also featured is an optical viewfinder with a 45-point all-cross-type AF system that locks on a subject to ensure sharp focus. In addition, it has a new 220,000-pixel autoexposure sensor and EOS iTR autofocus for face detection during viewfinder shooting. Its Dual Pixel CMOS AF technology also enables eye detection during live view.

And for vloggers and social media aficionados, the EOS Rebel T8i offers both 4K UHD and Full HD video at up to 24p, as well as vertical video support. Moreover, time-lapse videos are created in 4K using the dedicated time-lapse movie mode. In addition, built-in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity make it easy to share everything that’s captured.

Other features include a vari-angle, 3-inch touch-screen LCD monitor; advanced control with AF-on button and a quick control dial; and built-in Wi-Fi 2 and Bluetooth 3 connectivity. The camera is also compatible with an extensive line of Canon EF and EF-S lenses.

The Canon EOS Rebel T8i camera body has a retail price of $749.99; the EOS Rebel T8i kit with an EF-S 18–55mm f/4–5.6 IS STM lens sells for $899.99.
