Valhalla, NY—Fujifilm North America Corporation added the Fujinon XF18–135mm f/3.5–5.6 R LM OIS WR weather-resistant zoom lens to its X-series lens line as a companion to the weather-resistant Fujifilm X-T1 compact system camera that’s designed for a range of outdoor shooting capabilities.

With a 27–206mm equivalent focal range and a 5-stop image stabilization system, the new lens boasts more than 20 sealing points for dustproof and weather-resistant operation.

The newly released Fujifilm X-T1 is a weather-resistant, premium, interchangeable-lens camera with a large OLED electronic viewfinder engineered to deliver a near-instant image preview. It uses the latest generation, 16.3 megapixel APS-C X-Trans CMOS II sensor and reaches a 0.10-sec autofocus speed.

The XF18–135mm f/3.5–5.6 R LM OIS WR maintains that autofocus speed when combined with an X-series camera body that has phase-detection AF. It’s also said to provide nearly silent operation thanks to its linear motor technology and two gyro sensors with quartz oscillators. The lens’s 5-stop OIS system improves its ability to detect movement in the low-frequency band and uses an advanced algorithm to sense blur from the detected signal. Additionally, its OIS performance is maximized in the slow-shutter speed range to support a lightly equipped shooting style without the use of a tripod.

The lens also employs an optical system with four aspherical lenses and two anomalous dispersion glass lenses to maximize the performance of the X-Trans sensor, as well as an HT-EBC multilayer coating to minimize ghosting and a seven-blade aperture diaphragm that helps create smooth and round bokeh effects.

The Fujinon XF18–135mm f/3.5–5.6R LM OIS WR lens, which works with all Fujifilm X-series interchangeable-lens cameras, will be available in July for an SRP of $899.95. fujifilmusa.com
